Access Modes to PXRR Beamtime and Facilities

Sea of
Photons
The PXRR strives to provide crystallographers with easy and timely access to beam time at its several facilities. Access modes continue to evolve and we increasingly support multi beamline use with the goal of promoting high quality data collections and beam line productivity.   Contacts

Rapid
Access
Rapid Access Proposals are made to the PXRR for a single visit to our facilities typically within one or two weeks of requesting time. Recognizing that grant reviewers have approved nearly all proposed work, PXRR scientists review technical feasibility. Anand Saxena schedules all Rapid Access visits.   Contacts

Mail-In
Program
The PXRR Mail-In Data-Collection program provides crystallographers far from the NSLS and others with limited experience in synchrotron data collections with complete data sets from crystals sent overnight to the PXRR.   Contacts

Quick
Project
The recently devised Quick Project program provides visiting scientists working on our bending magnet beam lines with a same-day mechanism to compete for 'quick project' time slots on the X29 undulator beamline. This program is intended to promote high-quality data collections on pre-screened crystals that require high flux and or small beam size.   Contacts

NSLS GU
Proposals
NSLS General User (GU) beam time requests may be for program support or for single experiments. When accepted by the Proposal Review Panel they provide crystallography groups with sufficient beam time for one or multiple visits to the facilities of their choice. Beam time - and sometimes beamlines - are allocated by NSLS committees. The NSLS entertains GU Proposals via its PASS System in a January, May and September cycle for facilities access in the following trimester.   Contacts
