Data Reduction

For off-beamline data reduction two Cyber Cafes are at the disposition of our visitors, one by X12 and one by X29. Each is equipped with several centrally managed computers that run the the full complement of data reduction and structure solving programs. Each Cafe machine has access to all data file systems on our disk farm. To distribute processing jobs, visitors may also ssh as pxuser from any beam line to idle Cafe machines, preferably to the headless roast and froth.

Data Backup

For data backup activities - that often tie up a node and networking capacity - only Cafe machines should be used. Our two DVD-Robots are conveniently sited in each of the Cyber Cafes.
