The PXRR staff at BNL's NSLS have developed a number of password protected web-based software tools to facilitate remote monitoring, and eventually control of, protein crystallagraphy experiments at several NSLS beamlines. With the exception of the X12C webcams, the username/passwords are the same as those for the beamline computers. See beamline staff for a temporary password for the X12C webcams.
The CBASS data collection software automatically generates an html log of the
experiment. The log shows jpeg thumbnails of every image collected along with
corresponding image header information. At beamlines equipped with webcams,
pictures of the crystal are recorded for each test shot and every tenth
image during a data sweep. At beamline x12c, energy scan plots are also recorded.
Live Web Cameras add visual participation during remote monitoring. At X12C, a pan/tilt/zoomable camera allows the user to look around inside the experimental hutch, another allows the user to look around the operations/control area, and a third, stationary camera shows a high magnification image of the crystal (not mounted in image). At X26, cameras view the crystal and the equipment inside the hutch.
