Dewar Positioning by Sequential Cap ID Numbers in Primitives and by Logical Names in Protocols |
|
Primitive and Logical Position IDs |
Positioning of the automounter dewar under the vertical axis of the gripper is restricted
to 65 (4x16 +1) pre-defined locations that each will precisely align one crystal for pickup or return.
These positions result from a combination of dewar translational and rotational motion and are encoded
in the dewar stage device driver. When controlling the dewar stage via the
devgalil -moveto nn primitive commands all available positions,
nn, are sequentially numbered. The tables below relate the numerical position numbers,
Pos No, to Cap locations in the dewar.
When defining Cap positions in 'Protocols' the more ammenable alpha-numeric numbering scheme is used that combines puck (ABCD) and cap (1-16) identifiers. The alphanumeric layout is shown on the Dewar Loading Key pages. |

Docking Position |
Pos No 65 is the docking position used for gripper chilling. At X12B Dock is between pucks A and D, and at X29 it is between pucks A and B. In both cases Dock is adjacent to the nitrogen level sensor. |
