Documentation and Operating Manual for PXRR Automounters

Scope Intended for beam line personnel these automounter technical documents summarize operating instructions, setup procedures, testing results, and performance verification procedures.

Crystallographers and users of our beam lines will find in the companion Automounter User webpages the relevant information about specimen preparation, source of supplies, shipping procedures, along with instructions on how to run robot-assisted data collections.

The automounter at X12B was installed in 2003 by Mary Carlucci-Dayton, the robot project engineer, who advanced robot technology and built them with John Lara in our shops. Tom Langdon builds prototypes and makes site preparations at the beam lines. John Skinner develops, and maintains, and installs robot related software. Bill Nolan implemented goniometer motion control and additional development programs.
The automounter at X29 was installed in 2005. It is operated there by Howard Robinson and Grace Shea-McCarthy.

Alexei Soares, working mostly with the X12B and X12C robots is a strong promoter of automounter applications and is putting them to use for the PXRR Mail-in crystallography program. Alex also directed our robot training video.

An automounter for X12C was completed in 2008. Its use there is managed by Alexei Soares.
