Current Activities:

(1) Provide user support of PXRR operations throughout the facility.

(2) Maintain contents of PXRR website in my role as the PXRR Webmaster

(3) Maintain and develop experimental equipment as part of ongoing upgrades at all beam lines. Currently I assemble so-called IO-boxes that collect a broad range of measurables for use in the EPICS IOC running under Linux in the beam line servers (-h systems).

(4) Assist in beam line upgrades. The current focus is the X25 upgrade In 2005 I worked extensively on the upgrade of X12-C
which included an experimental station "Hutch" expansion and the installation of a new state-of-the-art detector and diffractometer system.

(5) Troubleshoot and carry out preventive maintance of coldstreams and other experimental equipment. Commission new systems including the Oxford Cryosystem 700 acquired for X25 in March 2006.

External Resources:

EPICS: An exellent collaboration for truly scalable control software.

The RTEMS Operating System: A free Real-Time EMbeaded System, Very nice to work with.

If you have ever fought with a inconsistent build as the result of CVS/Make you have to check this system out. Truly wonderful.
