Current Activities:
|
Provide mechanical and technical support for all PXRR beam lines.
This includes design and fabrication in our shop as well as the
coordination of work with the BNL trades.
With Mary Carlucci, plan and carry out site preparations for the installation of the PXRR sample changing robots. X12C is the current focus. Fabricate prototypes and instruments for use at our beam lines. Recently these are parts for the robots, as well as for the X12B and X12C beam lines. Maintain the small but well-equipped PXRR mechanical workshop and its machines to meet the needs of small parts fabrication as well as that of large assemblies. |

Past Activities:
|
Planned, designed, and carried out the extension of the X12C hutch to
facilitate the installation of a new detector and diffractometer.
This work included the renewal and relocation of the X12C vacuum controls.
(see picture above).
Operated the old X12B beamline (picture on the left) from 1999-2001 and provided support for its crystallography user program after Malcolm Capel moved inland. Lost all fear and some sleep. |
