X25 Undulator Properties and Calculated Spectra

The centerpiece of the upgrade at X25 is a new mini-gap undulator to replace the existing wiggler. Beamline optical upgrades will exploit the remarkable properties of the undulator.

NSLS staff members Geoge Rakowsky and Don Lynch proposed a variation of the X13 and X29 undulator design that provides more nearly continuous energy tunability.

The new X25 undulator is a longer device with a longer period and a wider gap, and will have higher brightness and continuous energy tunability from 2 to 20 keV, as shown in blue in the figure below.
